I like to ride hard and fast and I rely heavily on the motor. Motor tops out at 25 but if you’re in high gear and working hard you can easily hit 30 or even 35 miles an hour. Range realistically is 20-25 miles on flat terrain for me. What’s an extra couple of pounds! The downhill style racing seat doesn’t meet my everyday needs for long road rides.Īcceleration is great for a heavy bike. Especially when loading it in the truck bed. Still after many hours of use I find it difficult to maneuver when I’m off the bike. It felt more like a motorcycle than a bike. At first I was really surprised at the weight. So I rate their customer support and tech support A+. They FedEx a new front fork the very next day. Some problem with packaging which I assume has been resolved by now. The front forks were broken at the fender support arm. Assembly took about an hour but their videos took me step by step. Worth the wait? When the bike finally arrived I was ready to ride. Typical delays in the middle of a supply chain shortage but I always got a quick response back from customer service. My bike weighs 55 lbs, and I never notice it on the trails, and I'm not nearly as big as you. At your size, the heft of the bike is not going to be an issue. The enduro geometry of the Rockstar will let you ride pretty much anything. IMO, you're still working with a good base formula though. The same will go for the front fork at some point. You'll probably have to convert to a coil shock as you develop your skills. At your size, you'll very likely have to max out the pressure in the stock shock, and even then you may have bottoming issues. I'm 6'0", 200 lbs, and the RockShox Monarch R (basic air shock) on my bike is almost topped out for pressure. Sondors doesn't list a brand name shock, but it's definitely an air-spring shock. The only area you might have an issue is with the rear shock. The base price of the Rockstar is low enough that you can buy the bike, ride it to develop your skills a bit, then upgrade components over time. I wouldn't sweat the bike components too much. When climbing hills, weight is a huge factor in energy consumption, so having that large 21Ah battery will make the bike a lot more usable. Having full-suspension will make the ride more comfortable, and the large battery will last well on climbs. The Rockstar sounds like a great fit for you.
